My favourite “holiday” of the year has come and gone again. Chili fest is the “Thanksgiving of Chili” where you can try an assortment of chilies prepared by family. Last night, I sampled 6 different chilies, ate some good guac, and had a delicious piece of pie (though, at that time I was ready to pop from eating multiple bowls of my favourites).  Continue reading →

“You must be imaginative, strong-hearted. You must try things that may not work, and you must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul. What I say is true – anyone can cook… but only the fearless can be great.” – Gusteau, Ratatouille Continue reading →

Chili Fest…

…Where men (and women too, probably) put hair on their chests because of how hot the chillies are…

And of course-

…Where there’s so much trash talking about who’s chili or cornbread is the best and you’ve not even been in the house for five minutes…

Sounds about right.

My family looks forward to this day every year. While normally it’s in October, this year because Zak & Raegan were getting married, we had to postpone until yesterday.  Continue reading →

Cincinnati Chili on New Years, No Recipe

Nothing like ringing in the New Years with a bowl of Cincinnati Chili. Especially after all the odd foods I’ve had this week. I haven’t really had anything overly savoury like this.

Football season. At first, I didn’t really give much thought to writing a blog about the significance of football season to me. I mean, this -is- a foodie blog, isn’t it? It didn’t occur to me until the Patriot’s first game of the season, while listening to it and working on a recent blog post, that I can write a blog to celebrate football and food. Yes, you’re probably as skeptical as I am, but it is -doable.- Continue reading →
